There’s a lot of talk about the excessive pollution disposable plastic bottles generate, but we’re not as big when it’s time to talk about solutions to reduce their usage. If we there are more and more of us willing to use a reusable water bottle instead, a problem still linger: what do we do when it’s empty and we don’t want to have to purchase bottled water?

Sani-Fontaines wanted to help with a simple solution with an application available to everyone. That’s how LULIA came to be: an app that takes stock and lists all the drinking water access points across the world.

What LULIA can do for you: 

• Easily find drinking fountains near you in a few seconds
• Choose your preferences : filtered water, sparkling water, flavored water, with dog bowl, etc.
• Request the fastest itinerary to get to a fountain
• Leave a review about the water access point and share your experience

LULIA was created to work in collaboration with the users: the more of us using it, adding pictures, sharing reviews, the more efficient the app become. We are counting on you to participate and add as many water access near you and thus, helping the planet by reducing the need to purchase bottled water.

WHY LULIA?

It actually comes from Rome, as in 40 BC Rome! Imagine that, Romans back then had already realised the importance of providing clean drinking water to its citizens. They built a huge aqueduct: AQUA DI JULIA or LULIA. It was the very first aqueduct ever built and it stretched for miles, providing cleaner drinking water to the city inhabitants. Eventually, several extensions were added and that original aqueduct was used for centuries . (Wikipédia )

How does it work ?

How much does it cost? IT’S FREE!
1. Just download the LULIA application.

2. Create your profile directly in the app or use your Google or Facebook account to connect.
3. Activate geolocation on your phone since it uses Google Map
And it’s that simple: explore the app to instanteneously find all the water drinking access near you and follow the direction to get to the nearest fountain. 

This is an interactive application where you can add drinking water fountains if they are not already on the map, you’ll be able to edit existing ones too since you can add descriptives: free water, filtered water, bottle required, etc. The more you participate, the more fun it will be and together we’ll contribute to listing all the best spot to fill our bottles.
